Colorful – A Melodious Bird Of The Forests Of South And Southeast Asia

Small passerine birds like Pericrocotus miniatus, also called Small Minivets, can be found in South and Southeast Asian woods and woodlands, including those in India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The male Small Minivet has vivid red-orange upperparts and black wings, while the female has grey upperparts and yellow underparts. The Small Minivet has a distinctive and colorful plumage. A broad black beak and a black mask are shared by both sexes.

The Small Minivet is known for its melodious and sweet song, which is a series of clear and high-pitched notes. It feeds mainly on insects and small invertebrates.

Although the Small Minivet is not considered to be tһгeаteпed, its population is declining due to habitat ɩoѕѕ and fragmentation. Its conservation status is currently listed as “Least сoпсeгп” by the International ᴜпіoп for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
