Unbelievable! Frigate Flying Birds Can Fly Around The Clock, Even Sleeping In Flіɡһt

Henri Weimerskirch, leading a team of scientists, utilized GPS tracking devices attached to dozens of Frigate birds from 2011 to 2015 in their study of an extraordinary bird species capable of non-stop flight, as reported by the Science magazine.

The mystery of the bird that flies forever is not tired and has the ability to sleep in flight

The avian world continues to bewilder us with its astonishing secrets. One such mystery lies in the enigmatic bird that defies the boundaries of endurance, displaying an incessant flight without signs of fatigue. This extraordinary creature possesses the remarkable ability to sleep even while soaring through the skies. Scientists, driven by curiosity, embarked on a research expedition to unravel the enigma surrounding this species.

The researchers were astonished to find, according to their study, that these birds were capable of continuous flight for up to 56 days, covering distances of hundreds of miles without any rest periods. They were able to soar at altitudes of 2.5 miles (approximately 4 km).

The devices were attached to the backs of the bird species, weighing a mere 10g, ensuring that they had no impact on the activities of the birds whatsoever.

This peculiar species spends only 10% of its time gliding across the regions of the Indian Ocean with its distinctive shape. They fly at high altitudes and only slow down when approaching their nests. Therefore, scientists have also speculated that these birds may even sleep while in flight.

Frigate birds, distinguished by their large, vibrant red throat pouches, are also known as “pirates of the skies” due to their relentless hunting skills, as no fish species can escape their grasps once they’ve set their sights on a target. With their extraordinary flying abilities, Frigate birds also have a habit of snatching prey right from the mouths of other birds, earning them the nickname “kleptoparasites.”

The kite also known as the kite bulb is a part of the digestive system and the dilation of the esophagus.

The wilderness serves as a vast home to over 10,000 bird species, some of which are considered “rare gems” due to their unique characteristics that set them apart from other birds. Among them, the Frigate bird is one of the few species capable of soaring at heights of 2.5 miles, where the air becomes thin and water can freeze. Truly, nature never ceases to amaze us with its fascinating and unexpected discoveries.
