The variegated fairywren (Malurus lamberti) is a little bird that weighs 6-11 grams (0.21-0.39 ounce) and reaches 14–15 cm (5.5–6 inches) in length. The males of these birds exhibit spectacularly iridescent blue and chestnut plumage, which contrasts exquisitely with his black and grey to brown. These birds exhibit a high degree of sexual dimorphism.
He also has ѕtᴜппіпɡ blue ear coverts, a black neck and nape, a royal blue upper back, chestnut shoulders, and a blue to grey tail when in breeding plumage. His tummy is white, and his wings range from grey to brown.
