The black-collared barbet, or Lybius tortquatus, is a 20–25 cm long bird. Being somewhat large in height, they have a thick beak that is bristle-fringed and encircled by a bright red colour that is encircled by a black collar. This ѕрeсіeѕ, which is more vividly coloured than other barbets, is sexually monomorphic, meaning that there is very little phenotypic variation between the sexes.
